Sean Kingston is one of the best young (18) singers out there. He has an great, unique, Jamaican accent. For being as young as he is, he has come out with some great fun songs in the last two years.
I first heard him in his first single “Beautiful Girls” that reached the number one spot in the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. Not to mention this song came out when he was only 17 years old I liked how this hip-hop/ rap artist called them beautiful instead of hot. I really liked this song when it first came out but I think it was over used. This song was everywhere so I got tired of listening to it all the time, but it was still a good song. The music video was interesting. It had views of this generation and a view from back of how things would be in the fifties. So it wasn’t exactly good but it was, well interesting. Never been done before (that I know of) so I give Sean Kingston.
Another song that I really like is “Me Love”. This song is sort of a romantic song but at the same time it is up beat and a fun song to dance to. Although this song has bad grammar (Me Love) it is still his cool laid back music.
The music video is kind of lame though. I think he did a horrible job acting in it and it did not go with the story at all. One of the lyrics is “Why you leave me?”. Based on those lyrics, I would thing he would be upset, but in the music video he is happy and smiling while singing “Why you leave me”. I didn’t care for it at all. The best song by Sean Kingston is “Take You There”. I think this song is just plain good. He is more rapping in this song, and his other songs are more singing and less “hip-hop” songs. There is nothing really I can say about it other than it is just a good song. One of those songs that never gets boring, cool song. The music video wasn’t exactly lame but there was nothing special to it. It was sort of a little summer love story. But how many music videos are the exact same way? Too many videos alike to really care about this specific one. Sean Kingston can be more than just the front man in songs. He has also proved that he can be the one being featured in a couple of songs that I really like. One is “Love Like This” by Natasha Bedingfield. I love this song and Sean Kingston does a good job backing Natasha Bedingfield up. He even has a nice little solo. The music video is cute but another unoriginal. Sean Kingston doesn’t really have a big part except when his solo comes in then he gets to sit next to Natasha Bedingfield and sing hid part. But for the most part it is about Natasha Bedingfield, as it should be.
Another song with him as a featurette is the remake of Fergie’s song “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. This remix could not have been done better with anyone else. He added a certain vibe that made it even better than the original. Fergie did great on picking Sean Kingston for the job. Two thumbs up. But too bad that there is not a music video for this remix.
Well now you know, Sean Kingston has got that X-factor. He can do solo acts and duets which proves he is one of the best and most talented younger stars out there. He still has lots of time to bring us lots of what he’s got.
